In the heart of Oppdal, at the corner of the Krux Center and right next to the playground, you will find the café Raffelkakuhjørnet. This café is a bit out of the ordinary, as it serves several variations of the local "raffelkaku" (waffle) for both lunch and dessert. Enjoy lunch waffles with cured ham and other goodies, accompanied by a good bottle of juice, bubble waffles with ice cream and strawberries, or waffles with Sunndalsgraut – the traditional sweet porridge from the neighboring village.
If you are not a fan of waffles, you can also buy salads and sandwiches. Raffelkakuhjørnet offers an exciting selection of coffee varieties, and sells different teas, small products, and waffle mix from a small shop in the middle of the café. They also have a small area for second-hand items, where you can buy various things at a reasonable price. Here, you can find everything from small furniture to coffee cups and pretty wall mirrors.
Raffelkakuhjørnet is operated by Vekst Oppdal AS, a company whose primary objective is to offer its service users training and qualification through work training, skill development, and lifestyle changes with the aim of transitioning them into regular employment or education. Raffelkakuhjørnet also serves as a canteen for the Krux Oppdal Innovation Center.
