By car

Oppdal is located along the E6, the main highway between Oslo and Trondheim. The distance from Oslo is approximately 400 km (5-6 hours), while from Trondheim, it’s about 120 km (1.5 hours). The roads are well-maintained, and the journey offers spectacular Norwegian scenery along the way. If you’re coming from the west coast, you can take Route 70 from Kristiansund (about 3 hours) or Molde (about 2.5 hours).

By train

The Dovre Line stops in the heart of Oppdal’s town center, and the train journey itself is a great experience. The train from Oslo takes around 5 hours, while from Trondheim, it’s about 1.5 hours. By bus

Several express buses connect Oppdal with cities such as Trondheim, Oslo, and Kristiansund. The bus ride takes around 6-7 hours from Oslo and about 2 hours from Trondheim. For updated schedules and ticket booking, visit entur.no.

By plane

The nearest airport is Trondheim Airport, Værnes (TRD). From Værnes, you can easily take a train to Oppdal, a journey of about 2 hours. Alternatively, you can rent a car at the airport for a more flexible travel option.
